This is the first time I have dropped a lens. It’s the 16-35L and it broke at the mount of the camera because I dropped the camera (see photo). Does anyone know a ballpark estimate for this and can it even be repaired at a price that’s worth it? Should I send it to Canon or will any authorized service center do? It’s no longer in warranty. Any advice is appreciated.

If that's version 1 of that lens I don't think canon services it anymore, they are now on v3. You might look for a third party repair place. Robert's camera gets good Mark's.

Thanks for the recommendation for Roberts. Do you have other recommendations? What should I look for in a repair shop?

Since you are shown to be in SF, give Advance some consideration. See http://www.camerarepair-sf.com/index.html (external link)

Note that they no longer have a retail store, but still specialize in repairs.

I’ve never used them for repairs, but on a trip to SF I needed to get a sensor cleaned, and they handled my needs immediately.
