The hills are starting to turn yellow/gold. I think it's only going to get better over the next couple of weeks... as the weather warms up.

Thanks for looking.

Beautiful display, very colourful
Are these Eschscholzia? They look like ours growing 'wild' in our drive.
Lovely photos, keep them coming.

Yes; California's state flower. They grow so easily that they occasionally come up as weeds in our yard. The purple is lupine.

Nice, although I feel like that one cactus is giving me the finger. Kind of envious, we are still getting snowed on, flowers still off in the future.

Nice shots; #4 in particular. Nicely framed with the various cacti traveling back through; and having a nice Saguaro so prominent that isn't chopped away or obviously eaten at is a nice anchor.

Many thanks all :) I'm glad you enjoyed the images. Over the next couple of weeks... the flowers should be in full force, looking forward to shooting some more.

thanks again,
Hatch

Right, that makes me want to go, maybe next year I've been looking to a more extended trip for myself. Do they come out every year, or is it like death valley, where they really only bloom on wet years?

I just need to convince my wife that my semi-rebuilt 1988 Ford short block is reliable enough to take my truck. Hopefully a summer of off-roading without blowing it up again will do that.

This year is particularly good thanks to the very wet winter we've had here in AZ. Each year they return to some extent...how dense ...all depends on the rainfall. I would keep an eye out this coming winter/spring and compare the weather to 2018. A good site which people contribute to is https://www.desertusa.com/ (external link) they list where the flowers are blooming based on people reporting the areas. Wildflower update page ... https://www.desertusa.com/wildflo/wildupdates.html (external link)

It might be your best bet to stay on top of the season?

Hope this helps.
Hatch

Even though your location is evil Phoenix rather than wonderful Pima Country these are fine images.
