It's a GREAT step forward from the MkI and there's no point in waiting for an unannounced body to show up; it may or may not happen and could be some time, even if it does. - Eric S.: My Birds/Wildlife

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.

Tom Reichner wrote in post #18835384 I would definitely get the 7D2 now, were I in your position. In fact, even if the 7D3 were released tomorrow, I would still get the 7D2. . Why? . Well, because the 7D2 has been out for so long, you can find ones that have been well used, and save a lot of money over new prices. . If a 7D3 does come out soon, you will need to buy it new, and therefore pay a premium. Instead of suffering a lot of depreciation, let someone else suffer the depreciation. Do you think a 7D3 will have some feature that you really want, that the 7D2 doesn't have? . I can't imagine anything actually useful, unless you're into shooting video with your DSLR. . Agree with both of these. I finally upgraded from the original 7d to the 7d2 about a month ago. I am really loving the 7d2. The AF in particular is a huge step forward, the increase in frame rate is noticeable, and the high ISO handling is impressive. I also don't know what else I'd look for in a 7d3 relative to a 7d2, but I'm happy to shoot with this at least until the 7d3 does come out.

When compared to my 1Dx, the AF flat out sucked. Even my 6DII seems to have better/more accurate AF. The problem is that the 7DII just seemed overall slightly slower than what I needed for shooting sports, and in particular, Hockey. I think my decision to sell was when I had an opportunity to shoot during an AHL hockey game at a normal NBA/NHL style venue. Images were often slightly soft and I would get focus on things I didn't want focus on, even with center point focus. or example I would shoot from one blue line to behind the goal and in a couple shots, the boards and crowd would be in focus, then in another shot I would get the players in focus. In taking standard photos it performed well, though I didn't buy the camera for that. I tried different settings and nothing seemed to change. (also tested shooting nephews weekend hockey games as a test with different settings and lenses)

So you would say the 6d ii is as good for sports as the 7d ii? Canon 30D | Canon 7D | Canon R6 |Sony α6000 / ILCE-6000 | Sony E 3.5-5.6/PZ 16-50 OSS | Sigma DC 17-70mm | Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM | Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM |Canon EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM | Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM

Do you think that maybe with the same AF settings (or what seems to be the same, or default), the 7D2 tends to look for a new focus depth faster than the other cameras if it goes off-target for a moment?

TeamSpeed 01010100 01010011 More info | With the default out of the box, perhaps. Just like the 1d3 where many of us had to slow down the setting of acquisition of a new target, I did the same with the 7d3. I ran a modified case 2 and case 4 with spot AF and focus first priority, I believe. Past Equipment | My Personal Gallery
