Does anybody know where I can get a template for something like this so I don't have to make it myself. My high school band wants me to do this for them and I don't really want to go through all the work of making the template if I can get it somewhere reasonable.

Thanks

Not sure what your plans are, but this is a job for something other than photoshop.

I think making a blank template for that is quite easy, but adding all the images and names will be a rather tedious and laborious task.

Fundy software would be the easiest way to do this. You could build the template and add the images fairly easily with it.

here is how I would do it manually: Use the Frame Tool and place linked.

See:

https://www.actions4photographers.com/Class.htm (external link)

for example. I do not know how these montage/composite PSDs are laid out (a layer for each image and each text name below the image?) but if it is laid out correctly, you can use PS's data-driven graphics to do all of the heavy lifting.

Here is an old tutorial I made, many years ago:

https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?p=8165676

that will get you started on data-driven graphics - your application is a little different, but the same concepts apply: name all of your assets something useful, make a spreadsheet that lists all of the assets and tells PS where to put them, and, boom, automatically generate the comp. This is ideal if you need to edit or change/add elements, or repeat the process for another group, etc.

Good luck,

kirk

PS - I googled "photoshop marching band group template" to find the above link to the templates. You might consider also searching "photoshop fraternity sorority group templates" or similar.

Thanks everyone, I made a template tonight and I think I'm just going to use clipping masks like the Phlearn video.
