I have a 60D and I've been very pleased with it, but I recognize that it's likely coming close to the end of it's reasonable lifespan. I'd guess that 40% of my photography is wildlife, 30% landscape and the rest an assortment of family snapshots, macro and this and that. I've considered the 7Dmii and the 80D (leaning towards the 80D between the two), but I don't want to pull the trigger if there's to be a release of a 7Dmiii or a 90D anytime soon. You know how close-mouthed Canon is about new release timetables and I can't really find much on the web. Does anyone know what the rumors are about the specs of the 90D or of the potential release date. Honestly, while I've sold some photos, I'm a hobby guy and an amateur and I'd think the 80D will be fine, particularly if I can find it at a greatly reduced price, but I'd hate to purchase one and find that the 90D was already out or was about to be released.

All there are are rumors, and not solid ones at that. 90D to be announced in 2019, 7DIII in 2020, but as I said, that's the rumor. Nothing official has been announced.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

One camera you might want to check out though is the just announced RP.

Assuming the RP requires something other than the EF or EFS lenses, I'm not sure I want to go down that road, but I'll do some research, thanks for the advice.

If we see a 90D this year I would be surprised. Canon is primarily addressing the mirrorless market.

On the subject of the 80D check the refurbs off Canon's website. The following at two offerings. It is too bad you weren't looking a few days earlier as there was an additional 15% off. That sale is the reason the body only is out of stock ($800) but it likely will will reappear in the near future.

80D with EF-S 18-55mm STM Kit $850

EOS 80D EF-S 18-135 ISUSM $1100

Does Canon still have the buy back program on new or refurbished cameras? I do have an old point and shoot lying around here that I'd gladly trade on a new body.

Nope, they discontinued the buy back option several years ago.

Thanks John, I couldn't find anything on their website, so presumed that to be the case.

My other half went from a 60D to an 80D. It's a huge step forward in pretty much every way (AF, image quality - both low ISO DR and high ISO noise, touch screen, DPAF).

I shoot with the 7D and 5D lines, and always found the 60D frustrating, but quite enjoyed spending some time with the 80D.

If you can find one at a good price I'd go for it.

Camera, some lenses, too little time, too little talent

If you don't mind an inexpensive, or even free, adapter, the EF lenses work as well or even better on the new full frame mirrorless bodies.
