There seems to be a shift in jumping brands. I think this is fine but it's so often heard "I left Canon/Nikon and I dont regret it one bit"
I just seem to feel at odds with such a commonly told story. Here's two images taken with my Canon 5dmk4 and Sony A73.
In the Sony world I own the budget priced GM16-35 (being facetious). Here's where in some cases I do not use this lens for car photography. The GM is so "anti flare" that it does not permit me to produce some images I shoot in "my" style.
Just last Sunday I went to an event I like to take part in. I lugged my Sony A73 with GM16-35 and GM70-200. I decided to keep the 70-200 on my Sony. I then used my 5dmk4 as my trusty UWA shooter with my "not so" anti flare 16-35 f/2.8mk2.
I sold my Fuji 10-24mm so I seldom touch my Fuji lately. I found the sunflares to be acceptable but did not meet my needs or preference for a slow lens. Not certain if I'm going to stick with Fuji to buy the 8-16mm f/2.8. The RF 15-35 will be on my short list when i purchase the EOS R mk2,3,4 etc comes out.
Brand loyalty can be strong amongst photogs but I still think the choice of how hardware "renders" is very important.
These two images use the same Canon lens. If I was shooting Sony only I'd be so sad to have no alternative of creating deliberate sunflares in my car events documentation. The GM16-35 is extremely anti flare.
Studebaker I used the A73 with mc11 adapting the Canon lens. The image with the Silver Porsche was taken with my 5dmk4 with 16-35 f/2.8mk2. I could not get this flare look with my Sony A73 with Gmaster 16-35 f/2.8.
Goes to show that choosing gear is a choice of "render." Hardware seems to have a certain look that is partly due to brand "characteristics".
I do enjoy the variation between my Canon and Sony for automotive documentation. I do like Fuji for human subjects. Even my previous 80D had a pleasant render totally different than my 5dmk3/4 Canon bodies.
