Torresian Imperial Pigeons
gorging themselves on the endemic and common Carpentaria acuminata palm fruits, which they swallow whole, popping them down like lollies and passing the large seed
. These birds arrive in the Top End from Papua New Guinea and eastern Indonesia in September and breed here, aided by the abundant wet season fruit, returning north as the dry season kicks in in late April.
