I have noticed that some owners of the Canon M50 seem to like Rokinon primes (thinking of you, TeamSpeed, in particular :-) ) and I am wondering about Rokinon primes that are EF Mount (I know they make both M mount and EF mount lenses IIRC). I am wondering about using some of these with my RP just for fun. I realize not many people seem to use these lenses (when I did a search, I mostly came up with FOR SALE threads, which was not very encouraging as it seems to indicate that people want to sell these lenses rather than post about them). Nonetheless, I thought I would see if folks with experience with these lenses would take a moment to post pros and cons of the Rokinons. The main thing pushing me in this direction is that I sold my Canon 15mm fisheye and now, for some reason, I really miss it (insert country song lyrics here. . .:-P ). Any input much appreciated.

I've used MF Rokinon/Samyang lenses, but not the newer AF releases, so I can't comment on them.

The MF lenses tend to be good optics in a cheap body with bad build quality/quality control.
Bad build quality means lots of copy-to-copy variation; if you get a good one it's quite good, if you get a bad one it's not so good.

I think you see a lot for sale for two main reasons:
1. They're cheap so people buy them to try out manual focusing, find they don't like manually focusing, and sell the lens
2. They get a bad copy so they're not happy with the sharpness

One place they excel is astrophotography; the 14mm f/2.8 and 24mm f/1.4 are wide, fast, sharp, and cheap; for astro MF is preferred, so nobody misses AF

I had the 135 f2, great lens but too hard to MF using a DSLR. Would be fine with the M though.

I now have the EFM 50 1.2, another great lens and now also the 12 mm f2, and so far it is shaping out to be nice.

Thanks, TeamSpeed. :-)

Now I notice that Rokinon has actually made a couple of lenses for the RF mount, which is intriguing since they are inexpensive and would not need the adapter, which would reduce weight and bulk:

Put your link in the "Named URL" command box on the right of the screen. To see the "Named URL", first click on the "More Tools and Commands," then put your text between the two brackets right before the closing URL tag. For example:

[URL="https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=rokinon%20lens%20for%20canon%20rf&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&Top+Nav-Search="]Put Text Here[/URL]
Will give you that link with the text that appears between the brackets.

I have been using a Rokinon 135mm with my 50D. I dont mind the manual focus for still snapshots. Its a little soft but I like it.

Not the worst thing for shooting soft subjects. :)

You would really love using that lens on a Canon mirrorless. :) It makes focusing so much faster and more accurate to the point, I don't mind manually focusing my lenses now. There is no guesswork involved in knowing exactly where I have focus between the two tools available in the Canon mirrorless for this activity.

I've never used their regular lenses, but I owned their 8mm fisheye, and I've heard a lot of great things about their 12mm fisheye. The Rokinon/Samyang fisheyes are very popular in the skateboarding community being that they're so cheap, but they're very good! The 12mm is significantly wider than most full frame fisheyes, but has less barrel distortion than most full frame fisheyes. For some people that's a plus, for some people it's not. Either way, their fisheyes are great.

Could you post some photos? That would be great! (Photos with other Rokinons also appreciated.)

Here are some from the 8mm on a Canon T3i:

My lens was sadly hit by a skateboard and broke, so I don't have any recent examples, but I am about to order a copy of it for Nikon mount cameras so I can start using it again.
