I hope no one minds me sharing this portrait here but if so, please let me know and I will remove it. This is a portrait of my dad and his older sister that was taken in December of 1912, one hundred and seven years ago. My dad was two years old at the time and his sister was 5.

For any of you familiar with Southern California, my dad was "born on a farm in an unincorporated territory in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, near the city of Compton, California" in 1910.

I love the lighting, poses, expressions, everything about this photograph. I wish I knew who took it and with what kind of camera. There was nothing that indicated any of that on the photo.

Thanks very much, and I agree that I'm fortunate to have it. I also have a portrait of my great grandfather, 2nd great grandfather and even my 3rd great grandfather who was born when George Washington was still President. What I don't have sadly, is a portrait of my grandfather as an adult.

Absolutely spectacular.

Instead of loving things and using people, why not use things and love people? :-)
