I've been drifting away, and more active on my Facebook page than here. The main reason is the lack of interaction here since the forum implemented the "like" clickability. I liked the comments and verbal interaction before, but folks seem to prefer the easy click now rather than that.
That's an interesting take on the likes. . But you say you are active on Facebook, and FB is the king of likes! . I mean, they started the whole thing, didn't they? . If likes don't inhibit commenting on Facebook, then there is no reason why they would inhibit commenting here.

Second, I couldn't agree with you more on "likes' vs. actual comments. I am posting way less than I used to for the same reason. I very much have enjoyed developing friendships over time with folks like you, Captain Bob, Rog aka Ardeekay, and others, but that just doesn't happen anymore. 'Likes' are too easy. It's like walking down a sidewalk and nodding at someone you pass rather than stopping to have a conversation. Call me old-fashioned, but I'm a'gin it.
I agree with you both about the lack of conversation here. . I don't know how much the "likes" have to do with it, because most of my involvement here is in the discussion areas, not the photo sharing areas, and I don't think that "likes" affect discussions nearly as much as they do shared photos.
I try to get a lot of conversations started, or rekindled, and very few folks are interested in adding to the conversation. . Unless it's about gear (but why do people want to talk about that so much, anyway?)
Anyway, I guess we can choose to either be part of the problem or part of the solution. . My thinking is, "since no one else seems to be commenting much, I'll have to do even more of it to get things going and keep things going."
In short, I really miss the "old crowd" that used to spend a lot of time posting here, and wish we could get them all to come back and have things the way they used to be.

"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".
