I've directed Lumiere to include (some) of the same folders that LR works on. LR keeps the edits/develops in a XML files or something right?

I've played with a a bit and I haven't found any issues yet.

Is there any reason I can't have Lumiere work off the same folders (my entire raw library) alongside LR?

I assume you mean Luminar.. And yes you can work on the same raw images with multiple raw programs without negatively impacting your edits. I access the same files with DXO Photoab Elite, Capture One Pro 12, and ON1 Photo Raw. I would suggest not working on the same images at the same time though.

I do this from time to time using Canon's DPP. LR doesn't alter the RAW file. The catalogue just keeps a record of your adjustments. Also any adjustments I make using DPP, which is also a non destructive editor, does not effect the file in LR.

The latest output from Luminar is Luminar Flex, which is a plug-n for Lightroom that easily does a round trip from LR to Flex and back, returning as a tiff. It works VERY well. I am enjoying it.
