I will be using a Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 for Nikon on it for my wildlife photography. Any suggestions for a lightweight tall tripod would be appreciated. Please something that will hold the load but wont break the bank. Been shooting for years with a handheld 500 zoom with no problem but with this lens perhaps the tripod may be a good idea.
Any suggestions?

Thanks

I’m using a Wimberley Sidekick on an inexpensive medium+ duty Desmond ball head.

Under that is an older version of a 3-series Gitzo legs, it all seems well matched to my 150-600. I can walk a few steps away with confidence, and track quite smoothly. I was never tempted to put this rig on a 2-series tripod. Though I’m guessing it could handle the weight, but might flex, and I’d want to stay a lot closer to it. Maybe one hand on it all the time?

If you’re tracking action, rigidity of the rig seems important. Leg flex seems like it would interfere with smooth tracking.
