Testing photo links, will be removed quickly

.
I'm not sure what you mean when you say, "will be removed quickly."

POTN members do not have the ability to remove threads. Once you start it, it is here to stay (unless a moderator or Pekka himself removes it, but they say they will only do that if a thread violates POTN rules).

"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I am trying to figure out how to link/post a photo from my Flickr using the phone app in the same manner I do on my PC. When I am on my desktop PC I have the BBcode option that will display the photo in my post and also link to the host, offering various photo dimensions. The Flickr phone app offers maybe 2 dozen ways to share but not BBcode. It does offer "copy url to clipboard". So I'm testing that here trying to figure out how to use the host url and have it work/look like using BBcode works. Once I figure it out I'll ask to moderator to just remove all this if he wants to. So far I don't have it working like I hope to. The Flickr phone/mobile app is about to change anyway.

I just wanted to preserve this, in case you decide to delete it.

It's good to keep a record of things that people post here on the forum .... it helps when we want to go back and see how things went at a time of transition, such as this Flickr overhaul. . If it's deleted, then no one will have access to your posts when they are researching the different reactions and struggles people had at this time.

Thank you, Tom.

I'm at a loss on this. I have tried "URL", "CODE", "IMAGES ", etc with no success. I wont be back at my desktop until Tuesday.

I don't know how to help you with that. . However, if you really want to post a photo now, using just your phone, I can think of a temporary workaround:

You could bring up the image from Flickr full-screen on your phone, then take a screen capture.
Then you can post the screen capture to POTN via your phone as a forum-hosted attachment.
Then when you return to your desktop on Tuesday, you can replace the screen capture attachment with the BBcode.

It just makes me realize how much I wish cell phones would work exactly like real computers, despite the smaller size. . It is extremely frustrating when the mobile version doesn't offer all of the same features of the desktop version. . Abbreviated featuresets are entirely unacceptable.

An shortened URL like

https://flic.kr/p/2g2nx1J (external link)

is not an image url, it is a redirect script url for the "direct" image url

https://www.flickr.com …94677522@N04/47929562238/ (external link)

The direct (long) url is what you want to paste in to ( Images -> From web -> ) EMBED IMAGE field in post editor and hit enter. It will create a clickable thumbnail. Click/tap that thumbnail to place the image to your post and the full bbcode is created for you.

You can get the direct (long) url, if the mobile app does not let you have it:
paste the shortened url to a webbrowser's address field and hit return, when the page has loaded the address field has the correct url that you can copy/paste.
