I am using a 5 year old A7R and with the $400 additional rebates today I am ambivalent if I should still wait for A7R4 if announced next year 2020 with 60 megapixel or if delayed to 2021 with 100 megapixel...to be sure it will be priced closer to $4000...the A7R3 has sillent shutter, ibis 5 axis stabilization, higher sensor dxo marks and faster AF...but I continue to be happy with the A7R as a good partner to my Leica M10

any suggestions comments would help...to A7R3 or not?

Thanks

title should say or WAIT for A7R4

Cheers,
Tony

All I can say is I love my R3. I was helping my wife with her a7 today and so much more advanced since those days. I wonder if the firmware upgrades will delay the next release. Not much help.

The A7R3 is still one of the best cameras available from any brand. Do it.

Id say go for the A7RIII now especially since they can be had for $2,000 or less. Its such a versatile camera with more features than you will ever use.

I assume they mean you can find a used body for that. I haven't seen that that low, personally, usually they are around 2200 for a clean one.

Right now, at B&H, a new one is $2,798.00. They are showing that is a discounted price of $200.

Love my R3 (and A7III) that I will skip the next generation cameras. I literally desire no more from a camera as provided to me by this current generation. In fact I'll most likely pickup a current A9 once the II gets released for a fair price used.

Completely agree. a7R3 and a9 but will add the super aps-c that is suppose to be coming. I'm good for a long time after that. Bought the a9 while discounted and negotiated it down more at greentoe.

The R3 is certainly a strong offering, just got even stronger with the latest firmware. The A9 became MK2 level with the latest firmware, new camera. These are mature machines, no huge weaknesses, does everything ok or well. I own and love the A9, at the same time, the R3 still handles all I throw at it.

That said, might as well wait a few weeks, see how rumors shake out. Likely be nice vs really nice cameras.

Best to plan on adding a ton of storage space, or, a delete workflow, for images you won’t ever user. At 60MP, I wonder if people will use the 26.2mp crop from the body, to save space? Approximately 60mb per shot...yikes!

Great tech, at close to $3500, but, the 1k savings for the AR3 over AR4 means 1k towards a nice piece of glass. ;)
