Glass never gets much cheaper, and their GM lenses are a premium, too. No one system is perfect. But hey, 1k on an a9 isn’t bad, at all. Pair it with a GM lens, and you’re back to 5-6k. 1dx2 kinda pricing. ![]() Great thing is that nobody is forced to shoot GM lenses. I find my cheap glass fast enough for most purposes, 10 fps with adapted glass isn't too shabby. Cheap native glass like the 28,50, 24-240 is blazing fast. Don't own a single GM and don't really care for big gigantic lenses. inthedeck Cream of the Crop More info | May 31, 2019 08:08 | #8 Nope, but, then why spend upwards of 4k on a camera that will more than likely out resolve cheaper lenses? It’s like slapping an EF 50 1.8 on a 1Dx2. Sure, it can be done, but, will it deliver the best images? Probably not...though, that’s in the eye of the beholder. MCSquared Photography

For me, personally, the Sony/Fuji bodies were to small for my hands, the Noink Z6 and Canon R were much better, coming from a 1Dx. Hence, my decision to stick with Canon. No right or wrong here. I’ve heard lots of good things about the A9. By end of year, I’d venture to say it’ll be even cheaper than today’s discounted price. Just the nature of electronics, these days. you think the 50 f1.8 cant outresolve a 1Dx? it had horrible AF, which was its main problem, not IQ. In fact it can probably resolve 50mp just fine stopped down if you're looking for landscape photos. Inexpensive primes can resolve high resolution just fine, it's the zooms that have more issues like the 24-70ZA or kit lens or even 24-240 as I mentioned. One could argue that I'm missing out, but, I've tried them all. Narrowed it down to 85mm that I like the most, and no one else has an 85mm f1.2. So, I decided to stay with Canon. Adapted 85, for now, eventually to be RF. ![]() Back on topic... Sony A9 price, today, is a steal for someone new to, or planning to switch to, Sony. If they can spend that, then, I'm sure another couple of grand for a premium lens may help them achieve their goals. Or, a bunch of non-premium lenses as mentioned. For an existing birder, with comparable equipment, it'll cost them 6K to switch to Sony (new). Hopefully, their other gear will net them near as much and the price of their 'new' Sony gear doesn't plummet in the next 6 months, when the next greatest thing is released. Never ends. ![]() https://www.bhphotovideo.com …9_mirrorless_digital.html *complains about IQ, shoots with the softest lens* Sony A7siii/A7iv/ZV-1 - FE 24/1.4 - SY 24/2.8 - FE 35/2.8 - FE 50/1.8 - FE 85/1.8 - F 600/5.6 - CZ 100-300 - Tamron 17-28/2.8 - 28-75/2.8 - 28-200 RXD

I'de consider the samyang 1.4 AF, only weighs 550g? Gladly take a much sharper and 1/3 stop hit for the weight savings, however dont really care for it, even 550g isnt exactly lightweight. Sony's 85 f1.8 is simply on another level compared to the canon, and rightfully so, it's much newer. It also AF's much faster, the 20 fps is sort of addicting, especially when shutter life isnt an issue, mark keepers, delete all..... No time for spray and pray. I shoot consistently with what I have. Check my gallery, you’ll see. Never a soft image, from my copy, and with the R, even better. I don’t mind the weight for an artistic hunk of glass. MCSquared Photography
