I went out to the Wichita Mountains looking for Painted Buntings. I found none. But I did find this Widow Skimmer. Shot with my Canon EF 70-300L. I was loaded for birds so no time to change to a macro lens. But this lens is pretty remarkable at close range.

I love the Wichita Mts. I've been through a whole lot of the US, and IMHO the Wichitas are the most unique place in the country.

Here's a dragonfly I shot out there a couple of years ago. Wings are just about worn out.
