Well, that is cheaper than buying another, used or new, so I guess that works, but still quite expensive. :(

What all did they say was wrong with it? I assume it got a good cleaning too.

They? . Who is "they"?

According to what you said in post #1, it seemed like it would be you sending the camera in to Canon.

Post seven, coupled with the last reply, implies a local shop was used.

Yes a local shop sent it in for me. Fixed the cracked case and cleaned all up. I am glad I had insurance on it. I don't know if I would have fixed otherwise. It still worked great but was no longer weather proof with the crack.

I'd have bought it from you, if it was a couple hundred bucks less than others without cracks.

I couldn't care less about what's wrong with a camera - what's broken or scratched or cracked or dented or whatever .... as long as nothing inhibits the actual picture-taking capabilities, it's all good with me.

If it just a crack in the case then that can be easy fixed.

You can watch some of these do it yourself video's on Youtube and fix it.

Hello I am trying to remember where is payment in Yellowstone? We're in the hotel parking lot?

I assume that you mean "pavement", not "payment".

There is pavement in many, many areas of Yellowstone. . To the best of my knowledge, ALL of the designated parking areas are paved, as are all roads. . Every single mile of every road that is open to public travel is paved. . Even the small access roads in the campgrounds are paved.

Are you aware that the OP already had his camera repaired? . Did you read through the thread before posting your reply? . There's some worthwhile info here - it's worth reading through the thread.

Apple most certainly does make iPhones because the assembly workers are EMPLOYEES of Apple (not subcontractors).

.

Actually, as far as I know, most of Apple iPhones are built by Foxconn Shenzhen (that location is now called Shenzen Fugui). All assemblers are Foxconn's employees, not Apple's. Apple maintain the QC there though. I had a chance to visit that factory a few years ago.

The same factory builds equipment for IBM, HP, Dell, Intel, you name it.

$900 to replace the housing. Ouch! Do you know how much of that was Canon and how much was the camera shop fee?

And why not just send it directly to Canon and avoid the middle man fee?

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.
