The UP is very beautiful and feels very remote. I live in Southeastern, MI (about an hour north of Detroit)

I grew up in Adrian and Tecumseh Michigan, live in Fostoria Ohio now. We go up every couple years to the UP.

Nice shots! The falls all look really charged. I'm headed up there in August. Hopefully the black files have died down by then :-P. Too bad the falls probably will have too

the black flies are terrible at the beach areas...also known as stable flies which do not mind Deet at all. No bug spray works.

The water was by far the most impressive this year. The image of Scott Falls was frozen solid two weeks ago.

Are the fly numbers down by mid Sept? Looking for a short trip for this fall and have not been to UP. Considering that or North Shore Drive

If it's cool, which is normally is in September up there, then yes, the flies are down. They will still be around but not in the hoards like normal.
