Sorry if this is discussed elsewhere. Please direct me to the link if it is already here.

I see posts here that look great and when I look at their properties they are larger than 100kb. I upload photos and have to keep them under 100KB which makes them look terrible. How is it that some can post larger files? I hate it when the images are linked to another page and would rather be able to post a couple high res pics for peoples viewing than a link. How is this done? If I am asking in the wrong place please redirect me thank you.

Thanks for the quick response. Unless I am missing something the link explains that I must keep images under 100KB. I see many posts Are not under 100kb and am wondering if this is okay and how it is done. I would think if it was wrong the page would not upload them or mods would delete them. What am I missing here?

If you use 'Manage Attachments' you will be restricted by the board software.

Theoretically, the button I showed lets you link to any sized picture, anywhere, but there are 'guidelines' in place for that - they should be your own images, for a start :)

And, in fairness to people with dialup and other peoples bandwidth, you should really try to keep them in the 800 pixel ~100k area

I know a lot of the ones I have linked are 800 pixels on the longest side - but their size varies from 90k to around 125k...

Others are likely to add to this, too.

okay I may be getting it. I need to store the images elsewhere then, using the button You suggested, I put the url in and when the thread is opened it will link to that url and the images will show in the thread without people having to click a link. Is that correct? Thanks for helping.
