I don't know what good composition is.... Sometimes for me composition has to do with a certain brightness or a certain coming to restness and other times it has to do with funny mistakes. There's a kind of rightness and wrongness and sometimes I like rightness and sometimes I like wrongness. Diane Arbus

That 50ish standard perspective (35x1.6) is not my favorite because it produces shots like this. Umm, hard to explain. Yes -the glass is contrasty and sharp as you ever want... but I'm a WA fan for this type of shooting.

Well you don't have to explain as you can only like what you like after all. It is close to 50mm FOV on a 20D which is actually something i love. As it produces shot close to that of the eye, 50mm has a great legacy in this genre. But naturally i'm a fan of the 24 28 35mm to.

They'd be the only other lenses that i'd ever buy

Fantastic images of the hussle and bussle of the city. These shots are reminding me that it is the people who make the city what it is- giving it life. Excellent B&W conversions too.

Sean, these are excellent pics. Great vignette of life in your city. 35mmm on a crop camera really does look like 50mm on FF :) I like the way you converted the pics into duotone, mind sharing your workflow?

If I were to nitpick, I'd say some of the pics are too neat, would love to see a bit of grain in them. But they are great, I really like them.

I personally like number one. Good work on that one.
Although i would have better preffered it w.o the greenish tone.

I love the tone, that green lends itself very well to indoor shots of this kind of environment. The original lef a large orange cast over the main subjects face as there was a red light just above his face out of shot

Cheers
