Is it normal for a 1D MKIII battery to get real hot when charging?

Thanks for the reply. My battery gets too hot to hold in your hands. I just bought the camera and still learning. I guess I will be making some phone calls.

I guess I will be making some phone calls. Thanks David That sounds serious! Lithium Ion batteries are normally pretty safe but when they get that hot bad things can, and probably will, happen! Do not use or charge it. Life is for living, cameras are to capture it (one day I will learn how!).

I agree. I've heard things like that bursting into flames. I called the dealer and they are sending me a replacement Monday.

I take it that they shouldn't get that hot. Yes it was a Canon charger, original equipment.
