Small frustration.

I am trying to copy a text layer from one image to another (Exact same size), and have it end up in the same place on the second image.

Currently, I drag the layer from the layers palate into the second image, and the text drops to where ever it is when I release the mouse. Then I have to line it up with where I need it.

In a perfect world, it would drop into the second image in the same place it is in the first, and eliminate the need to further nudge it into place.

My expectation is if I hold down the [whatever] key as I drag the layer it will perform as needed. Just haven't been able to find the magic claw command.

Rad

I'm assuming you are using Photoshop and that both images are the same dimensions.

With the text layer selected on the source image, hold down the SHIFT key, and while continuing to hold it down, drag the text layer over to the destination image and then release the mouse button. The text layer will be aligned on the destination image the same as from the source image.

Got it.

I knew it was something. I just didn't know what.

Thanks,

Rad

I think you mean CONTROL-SHIFT keys ...

I've always just used Shift (no Control) and it works. I believe that using shifts causes the layer to be centered on the image it is being copied to. If the image is the same size as the source image then the text will be in the same location after being copied over.

Ah, you must have the move tool selected. Control temporarily activates the move tool, regardless of what tool happens to be selected.
