Hi admins, moderators and everyone...

First off, thanks for running such a wonderful web resource and gathering place for us photography addicts here. :D You folks do a superb job, and I feel privileged to have such easy access to the wealth of invaluable information and insights provided here by the many talented and experienced members that make up POTN. I've been here a while, as an unregistered surfer, then finally as a registered member. I'm not much of a poster, but more of a reader. I try to contribute where I feel confident I can help out, but more often than not I read, read and read (I learn so much more that way).

Anyway, I had a thought recently that I wanted to share, as an idea or suggestion. I realize there are already a number of specialized forums within POTN, and I love the way this allows focus on the many different aspects of what we do. Another forum I've found myself wishing we had (on numerous occasions) is one dedicated to posts for recent purchases/acquisitions. I certainly understand and appreciate the enthusiasm and good feelings behind the purchase of a new body or 'your next L', but I feel that these frequent posts in the EOS Digital Cameras forum, and the EF lenses forum only serve to add a bit of clutter to already highly trafficked areas. It's just a thought, but it seems that these type of posts would be better served in a forum called "Canon Recent Purchases" or something similar. Heck, I've found myself wanting to post about a purchase here and there, but for the thousands that come here, I figure most don't really care. At least in a forum dedicated to this topic, those that so loyally post praise and support to these daily threads could still do it (God Bless them!), while the many others could press on reading other topics of interest, and go see the 'new purchases' when they chose to.

I hope this didn't come across wrong... I'm certainly not in favor of a denormalized forum with a seperate area for every possible topic. However, this type of stuff seems to be posted frequently enough that it *might* possibly be better served in its own area, while slightly improving a signal to noise ratio for a couple of heavy forums.

Thanks very much if you read this far. :D

Back to lurk mode!

Absolutely!! Just make sure posters realize questions about their new toys should go to the appropriate "classic" forums... limit the new ones to the "just got/I love it/I hate it" type posts.

BTW, I like the changes just put into place with the Marketplace forum(s). Thanks.

Thanks for the couple of supportive replies. I suppose the mods don't feel the same... but I had to try. There are new posts everyday sayhing "well, I just bought a <insert purchase here>, it should be here soon.". I've always dealt with it and suppose I will continue dealing with it.

Thanks
WT
