Does anyone know the best way to trigger 3 canon cameras at the same time while just pressing the shutter button on one camera? I know when i am out at some events i see people have cameras setup at different locations with a receiver on top but I have never got that close to figure out how they are doing it

Thanks in advance
Lance

You can do it with the PixelPro Remote trigger here (external link) but you would need to buy multiple receivers. I believe Hahnel also make one. I use a Profoto Air Remote to trigger a camera and I could trigger multiple cameras if I had multiple remotes. I can just walk around with another remote and press the Test button and the shutter is released. You do need to buy the cable extra for the Profoto though and it's an expensive solution if you are not using Profoto lights!

Or the budget option. Buy two sets (total 4 pieces) Yongnou 605c flash/shutter release wireless triggers and cables. http://www.eachshot.com …h-trigger_canon/3054.html (external link)

Each pair comes with a cable* so to trigger three cameras you would need to buy an extra cable. Then you use the 4th 605 as the handheld remote trigger.

* Each pair comes with two different cables, so depending on which type of cable you need you have to buy an extra third cable of that type.

Works very well and these units can emulate other modes too for flash triggering, etc. Be sure to set the mode to the 603 setting.

Yep, they are actually manual flash triggers for off camera flash, but also have the ability to trigger the shutter. There are more complex triggers that do ETTL but they don't have the ability to trigger the shutter so I keep my old 603s around.

I guess it depends on your setup and the distance between the cameras. Alternatively, you can trigger multiple canon dslrs at the same time using Triggerbox (external link) from Esper. Perhaps not the cheapest option for just 3 cameras, but it uses wired shutter release input for precise synchronisation which could be more stable over wireless triggers.

YN 603 is my remote trigger, but I've never tried to trigger the set up with the camera shutter release. That was the original question, and I can see why it would be important. Anyone know if it works?

As stated already the 603 works. I have the 605, running in the 603 mode, and can trigger a camera on the backboard while sitting on the floor.

Actually, this is what was explicitly stated. And is what you agreed would work.

It is not how I read the OP and not what I said above. If it is implied, I didn't pick up on it.

I had also stated this all works, but in regards to the 605 units; here is the overall summary.

- Put receiver mode 605 units in 603 mode (I think it was the 603 emulation, or perhaps the 602 mode?) on your remote cameras and run the cable to the shutter release.
- Put the transmitter mode 605 unit on your main camera to the hot shoe, running in the same emulation mode.

Now when you fire the main camera, all the other cameras fire too. Or hold the transmitter in your hand and hit the button if you don't want to sync with a main camera. In this video, this is the Nikon, I don't remember having to have any cable on the main firing camera for Canon, but maybe I did need a sync cable.

I spent about week researching this a year ago, when I wanted to fire multiple cameras from my 5D4 during a ballgame, and ended up with these units. I have since sold off all other Yongnuo products I had, but these stay with me. Unfortunately I cannot use this set up with my M50, as it doesn't have a flash trigger port. :(
