Nice, Bill! Anahuac?

Is that one @ 600mm?

I'm guessing that's either quite a crop, or you got buzzed really close. Great shot, either way! :)

Thanks, Phil. No, it was at Brazoria NWR. The opposite side of Galveston.

It was actually at 338mm. The focal length markings are covered by the lenscoat and in the heat of the moment, I didn't realize I didn't have dialed all the way out.

I love the reach of the A6400 but hate the ergonomics. I want the A7000!!

I'm very pleased with these as they were in the dark, shaded area of a wooded lot and not particularly close.

These are just so very lovely, Bill. I love the clarity in these hummer images.

I am so tempted by this lens. But can't afford an A9...
Would an A7III be a good alternative? And could that camera keep up with swallows in flight, you think?

Levina, my experience with Sony is so limited that I can't honestly answer your question. When I was first breaking in I was going to get the a7R2 but was warned it is not a good birding camera. I think there are people that use them but I'm not sure about for in flight shots. Perhaps someone with more experience with the 7III will chime in. I have the 7R3 too but my in flight shot keepers are fewer than with the a9.

Close cropped yet so much details. Not sure if its the lens or the sensor on the camera but regardless, I have not had such consistently high quality output from my Canon gear.

I'm amazed at the clarity in a crop. Not the detail that a closer shot would give but... I would like to see the detail if the A7R3 were used with the lens.

Yes nice Bill , Perhaps a 1.4 tc on the a9 would have helped and been close to what the A7r3 would have got .

Hopefully I will have this lens and a a9 + tc next month the a7r4 is tempting but I just get the feeling the a9 is the way to go .

Rob.

Yes, I wasn't shooting with the 1.4 since other birds were much closer. Found this guy on my way out.
