I’ve agreed at short notice to shoot a 5 minute video of a friend’s 9 year old for some school project. I’ve warned her that I really only do stills and have absolutely no video experience. She still wants me to have a go.
I do have 1Dxii and a 5Div bodies to choose from, plus a great tripod. The remaining gear limitation is that all my lighting is flash. The only potential continuous lighting solution I can think of is the modeling light on my profoto B1, but the shoot is planned for tomorrow so I have very limited time to experiment with this idea.
The requirement is just for 5 minutes of the child speaking against a white wall background. We may be able to find a bright window and simply have him facing that, with no other lighting. Anyway I’ll be flying blind and would really appreciate any tips. In particular, is it feasible to use the modeling light in this way?
(If it doesn’t work out my friend may have to shoot something on her phone, I’ve been very clear about that and she understands but I’ll give it a shot anyway see what I can do).
