Yesterday I someone post on the Topaz Facebook page a message from someone at Topaz saying they were getting ready to pull the plug on Topaz Studio and replace it with something else. I had heard nothing about that from Topaz. So I wrote to their Support and asked if that story was true. Below is the response.

"Hi Michael,

That is correct. We will be making an announcement early next week once the details have been finalized. The announcement will be made through email. If you haven't already, you can sign up for our mailing list here!

I saw that too. Probably a good move. The Studio concept is ok, the execution and limitations of the editing environment... not so much.

Interested to see what they come up with.

I must say I never liked the UI of the filters. Now if the new system has frequency separation..... ;)

I agree. Topaz Studio was crap from the beginning. Glad to see it has died. I hope the "announcement" is of something better AND that it incorporates the legacy filters AND that is is compatible with things like Affinity

Evidently the replacement will be Topaz Art Studio. That change in emphasis may or may not suit your photographic needs.

Hmmm.

Art Studio sounds like basic editing combined with all of their impression, oil painting, etc. filters perhaps.

I could easily see another application that unifies their AI-based offerings- it would be geared toward image processing utilities rather than image editing.

We will see....

Evidently the Art Studio name did not fly well with some of their customer base. So the working name is now Studio 2. It is supposed to launch next week.

Topaz started rollout tonight via emails. Studio 2 UI does look better. No time to plan with all the adjustments tonight.

I guess they will have product pages up and running tomorrow (25th).
