Just got one last week from B&H. I know you are looking used but I just wanted to mention to not get it right now if you do decide to buy new. It's back to $900 but often goes to $850, which is where I got it. Also, the reward is @ 4 %. Meaning in a couple of weeks you will receive a gift card for about $34.

Got it for sports and (as always) I'd rather get the F/2.8 but man, even on sale it's $1,600. Works well on my 6D, focuses well, images sharp, and not too heavy.

It also covers a handy zoom range.

The macro feature is interesting. Won't replace true macro, but results were surprising.

I'm selling my 24-105 to make room for something else now but I tried my friends 24-70 f4 is and i liked it a lot and the macro feature was impressive for a standard zoom lens. I shoot handheld in low light sometimes and I'm just not sure if I can give up that IS haha I would buy used, these are floating in the low 500s right now on eBay

I had read several reviews/comparisons before deciding and many people that owned the 24-105mm said the IQ & AF were much better w/ the 24-70mm. I never used the 24-105mm so I can't speak to that, just that the 24-70mm only seems to have one "con", it's not F/2.8.:-)

interesting all the reviews I've heard have been the other way around and rule that the 24-70 f4 is sharper than the 105 although you lack the extra reach, I'm not shooting sports so I don't think the AF speed will even be noticeable to me haha I would get the 2.8 but I really want that IS lol and I've heard the 2.8 version 1 is underwhelming
