Personally my morals would stop me from ordering knowing very well it was a mistake.

Heck I just bought a full set of Milwaukee Packout cases, and the lady scanned just one of the 3 or 4 and assumed it was all a kit. I had to tell her that each unit was separately priced.

I know others march by a different beat of a different drum however.

Very fortunate of the few who were able to pick up their desired cameras or lenses at an affordable price that they would otherwise not be able to!

I agree. I try to be honest in my dealings with people or business.

But amazon has done a lot of Prime Day hyping. I might have thought this was a limited "give-away" intended to create a Prime Day buying frenzy.

Had I found such a loophole, I may have taken advantage of it for a single item,
but to grab 5 of the 800mm L lenses is an obvious grab of greediness.

I also would not have tried to secure any items priced as high as $13,000.

Taking advantage of a pricing mistake is no different than stealing in my book, if Amazon did it intentionally without notice then they rewarded bad behavior. I wonder if some people got fired over this.

Payback to Bezos. He won’t miss a few hundred grand. Just needs 30 more seconds to make that up.

Seriously though, I would not have taken advantage of it either. Just not me.

My personal opinion of Jeff Bezos has absolutely no bearing on what I consider to be right or wrong, seeing people on the internet bragging about taking advantage of an obvious pricing error shows me that a lot of society today has no shame.

Greed is the engine and envy the transmission of many people's life vehicles.

.
I can't help but wonder if this weren't done intentionally, as a way to generate hype for Prime Day. . If Amazon loses a few hundred thousand dollars, but gains A LOT of attention for their Prime Day, then they actually got a lot of advertising for a pretty cheap price.

Personally, I had never heard of Prime Day until I read this thread a few minutes ago ..... but now I am completely aware of it because of reading the link that the OP provided, as well as visiting some other sites that discussed this issue.

How many tens of thousands of people will be sure to get on Amozon the next time they have a Prime Day, just hoping against hope that there may be another pricing error, and wanting to be one of those early comers who can take advantage of it?

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I think it was a simple mistake, a mass update in the pricing DB that went awry. If Amazon wanted to entice people, they wouldn't have used such a niche product to have pricing mistakes on, they would have used something a bit more in demand by more people. There have been other such Amazon mistakes in the past. By time this pricing glitch really hit mainstream, Prime Day was mostly over.

Prime Day has been advertised on every TV and radio channel, and is very much in every single financial news outlet before it actually took place. It is the Black Friday of the summer for Prime members. Prime day seems like it will be an annual event.

There are so many deal sites and shares on facebook for this, that free advertising is already out there for Amazon. I didn't spend too much this year, I did pick up 2 of the newly redesigned Amazon Dots, and almost got the new Show for $50 to replace our alarm clock/radio. Picked up a few other things too, like Life Straws for $10 each for our bug out bags, etc. Dealnews is one of the largest deal sites, and was purchased by Amazon some years back. Great site to keep an eye on deals.

From what I saw the discrepancy only affected camera bodies and the price was not advertised it showed the regular price on amazon you had to add it to your cart once it was in your cart then a blue banner appeared next to the camera body notifying you that “you will be charged $94.48 for this item”

And it only happened for the first 5mins of prime day 3am eastern time.

There is no way this was a pricing error, banners don’t pop up and it happened on every camera body sold and shipped by amazon.

My order sat for 2 days before it shipped out of Amazon’s warehouse, if it was an error they would have canceled it.

Every prime day has had these Easter eggs.

If it would have been intentional Amazon would have limited the buyer to one camera at the sale price, there are people bragging about getting three or four cameras at the super obvious pricing error price. Because Amazon decided to eat the loss doesn’t mean it was intentional.

With software developers, anything is possible. Automated testing and BA testing can only do so much.

What you're saying sounds reasonable. I've never had a blue banner pop up on items in my amazon cart. Although I'll never know for sure, it does seem intentional.
