This year the Anti war demo was quite large in London, I think it was about 15,000 who attended. Before protesters could go join the main route, they had to queue up by parliment.

I like it. How long did it take you to do the conversion? I've tried some conversions like this, always takes ages and Im never happy with the quality.

Ta for the comment.

Pretty quick (about 20min), played around with curves, brightness / contrast layers.
Then desaturated and used history brush to paint colours back in. I always go 100 percent on the image as its easier to paint the larger areas using a thicker brush and use a smaller brush for edges.

Nice use of selective colour - very effective.

I like the photo a lot. Too easy to fall into composition cliches when photographing large crowds - clearly your take is original.

PS organisers said there were 80,000 so the true figure must be in the middle

A good use of selective colour that works well. My only niggle is a slight rotation clockwise would square it up.

The color job PP as it is works well enough but its the only way I can see it could work - in straight mono or colour the protest isn't the subject - the background is by virtue of taking up 90% of the frame.

A nice documentary and the selective colour is well done. The telephoto has really compressed the scene- the buildings and crowd look so close together. Nice.

When I shot the picture, I had a selective coloring post processing in mind. I had parliment take up a majority of the shot as I like the detail but also felt the lines of the building helped draw the viewers eyes to the banners. That and a sense of scale of course.

Neil - point noted about the rotation, I'll give it a go.

Very nice photo and PP work. I like the idea of selective coloration here, but somehow the color difference is a bit too stark for me. Maybe mute the colors a bit, or instead of B/W background, perhaps a duotone is some shade? I'm not sure how it would turn up though. Great capture, I really like the composition, it's like diminutive people up against huge City Hall.
