Fixed-Lens Photo Challenge #041: Subject: Converging Lines
_______________

This week’s topic: This week show me a photo that is dominated by converging lines. Classic examples are railroad tracks and streets. But many more examples can be found in architecture and in nature. See what you can find; and, as always, great Exposure and Composition will carry the day!
_______________

Remember, if you post a photo, you may be the winner. Be prepared to host and judge a new challenge.

To submit, click the button labeled "POST TO THREAD" and put your photo title in the first line of the post, above your photo. Your camera brand and model must appear in the post. Include additional EXIF data, if you like.

Enter just one photo.

Post until Monday noon GMT, 12 August 2019

Rules

  1. Camera: Any fixed-lens camera, all brands and models. Cell phones are also included. No DSLRs!

  2. Time: Any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible except photos that have won other POTN competitions.

  3. Size: Photo must be no less than 800 pixels and no more than 1600 pixels on the longest side, with no borders.

  4. Postprocessing: Do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.

  5. Photo Display: Photos must appear in this thread to be eligible.

  6. Commenting: Please Title your photo. No commenting or descriptions on photos by anyone, including the photographer. Do not use the LIKE button until the challenge has ended. Once the winners are declared, photographers can add comments to their images and everyone is invited to discuss. The host and others may also post photos after the winners are announced.

    Hosting

    1. The challenge host is the winner of the last challenge.

    2. As soon as possible after your win is announced, start a thread in the Competitions forum with this title: Fixed-Lens Challenge #XXX: Subject.

    3. To use this format for posting your challenge, use the MQ button down in the right corner of the screen. Then hit 'Start A New Thread'.

    4. Soon after noon GMT on the next Monday, post your choices for first, second, and third place. No ties, please. Comments on the photos are nice but not required.

    5. If the winner can't be contacted and doesn't respond by Wednesday noon GMT, the second-place winner will host the challenge. If both are unavailable, the third-place winner will host.

Schedule

One challenge every week, on the following schedule:
  • New Topic: As soon as possible after winning.
  • Posting Starts: Right after topic is announced.
  • Posting Stops: Monday noon GMT.
  • Winners Announcement: As soon as possible, max. until Tuesday noon GMT.

Pay attention to your PMs or “Heads Up!” messages. This will allow the host, helpful members, or moderators to contact you about winning or ineligible photos.
Thank you.
===============

Great entries all this week...and great fun to see how each of you interpreted the theme!

Trumper - Natural Lines: Love this photo. The path lines converge as they disappear into the distance!
OhioHick - Sandstone Curves. Beautiful photo but more curvy than converging.
OhLook - See the Birdie?: Another fine photo but the lines are intersecting rather than converging.
M_Six - D.C.: Class DC Mall shot with gigantic converging lines of the pool based on the camera angle.
Maureen Souza - Light Repair: Cool photo, but crossing not converging.
Stiga - What a stupid place to stand and take a photo!: Classic and beautiful converging train track photo. Well done!

And the Winners are:

1st Place - Trumper: Different, unique, and definitely converging!

2nd Place - Stiga (Martin): Classic convergence photo!

3rd Place - M_Six: If only you had another mile the lines might have met? :-)

Well done by all!

Over to you Trumper...it's all yours for this week!

Congratulations to Trumper, Martin, and Mark!

Jim, good choices. I didn't understand that you intended to exclude lines that meet.

Congrats to the winners! I know mine really didn’t qualify but I threw it up anyways. I had 5 photo shoots this week so have been up to my elbows in editing with little time to get out & play.

Thanks Jim!
