90D combining 80D and 7D?? Shutter Click #'s ?

I am hearing that the new 90D is going to combine the best (?) of the 80D and the 7D, articulated screen so maybe the buttons on the back will be similar to my 80D and 6D mkii, I hope (that is why I got the 6D rather than the 5D mkiv the screen and the button layout, after a stroke I don't need to try to have two different button layouts)

anyhow back to my question, from what I have seen the 80D is rated for 100,000 shutter clicks while the 7D is rated at 200,000

has anyone heard whether the shutter will be the 7D's (200,000) or the 80D's (100,000)?

I can't answer your question but personally I would not be concerned about either. Understand that these ratings are statistical. I'm not aware of Canon's design spec but typically the stated life has some criteria in percentage associated with the number. In other words, and again I don't know the Canon design criteria, an example might be 90% of the shutters will last for 100,000 actuations. So look at your usage, just how long will it take you to reach 100,000 or 200,000 actuations? I for example shoot about 3000 images a year (combined between 60D & 80D) so the shutter in theory should last for 33 years. I'm at an age where I think twice about buying green bananas.

Also, there has not been anything officially announced. There are several rumor sites that are claiming that the 80D and 7D lines will merge into a single body and it does make sense (at least to me), but Cannon has said nothing so far.

I wouldn't assume this new one is the best of all the 80D and 7D2, but rather some sort of happy compromise between the two. That would be more in line with what Canon has done in the past. If it ends up being much more, great for all of us!

With my 80D when I shoot hummingbirds in the side yard I will crank off 1,000 shots in the course of a couple hours, have done that 3 times this week already. I have 30,000 clicks on my shutter so far...

My 6D mkii I don't use it as much for BIF
