PSA:
For 25 years I have been using Sandisk and Lexar SD cards exclusively. Never had a failure until this week and a Lexar (no longer really Lexar) is refusing to honor their lifetime warranty (class action anyone?) The card cannot be read, written to or recovered and I am clever with this stuff. So time to alert my friends!

They claim the government is preventing them from refunding!! Even though terms of warranty are replacement.
“We are not able to offer a replacement at this time. However, we can offer to provide a refund […] for your Lexar memory cards.”
S_____ then provided a PayPal email address and was told that his refund was on the way. After days of no followup, S_____ contacted Lexar again and was told that Lexar is currently not able to issue any refunds until it receives United States government approval.
“Due to the sensitive nature of the CFIUS requirements, we must have official review and approval from the U.S. Government before we can move forward,” the rep replied. “Once this review is complete, we will begin issuing refunds to customers right away.
“We look forward to issuing your replacement or refund with approval from the U.S. Government.”
SanDisk was bought by Western Digital. I think I still can trust them but have not tried recent cards. Prodigital is the old management of Lexar, a little slow but lower price. Sony is costly, but gets good reviews. So now you know....
PS: I bought from Adorama. 4 months ago. They will not replace or exchange toward another brand. I have to think Helen would have sorted this out. And I think Adorama should drop Lexar like a hot potato.
