Has the U.S vs China trade war seen a price rise being passed on in the photography sector as yet?

Cheers,

Tarrifs have already started. The first was steel and aluminium but was not only China. China tarrifs followed in March.

To answer the question, not that I know of but how would we know? Any product released after tarrifs may have started with a higher price.
Possible we missed out on a price drop.

Not sure how much of Canon's products are imported from China but I'm guessing it's very little. But a quick peek at pricing history shows that the 5DIV hit it's lowest price on August 20th, the 80D on June 29th, the 70-200II f/2.8 on August 3rd, the EF-S 55-250 is pretty much at it's low now, the RP has been flat since it's intro except for a small spike when first introduced. At least based on data at Camelcamelcamel, there has been either no impact or prices have been coming down. It's pretty much like that on any Canon product I looked up.

If the price of the product you want to buy is reasonable to you then dont worry about tariffs. China has also been lowering its yuan vs the dollar which means that the usd has stronger buying power which offsets tariffs set by the USA.

If its made in China, yes, but anything made in Taiwan, SKorea, etc. are free of tariffs.

I don't see the need to bring your personal political views into the discussion.

I believe it's only for newly introduced products

I think it's in response to post #2. Post is kind of on the edge, more political/insulting than discussing the impact of the tariffs to camera prices..

Air Pods will have the tariff. I assume they are an example of a new product. I wonder where the 90D is made.
