Would you switch from Canon to a Sony RX10 Mark IV and give up:
Canon 6D Mark II
Tamron 24-70mm
Canon 100-400mm Version II
Canon 70-200mm f2.8 L
Appreciate pros & cons. Thx.

Aug 27, 2019 14:06 | #2 I am not familiar with the Sony RX10 Mark IV but I did purchase a Sony A6000 to get my feet wet in mirror less. I have been Canon all my life. I am impressed with the quality of the photos & functionality of the a6000 but the menu system is daunting. I am a hobbyist so learning my way around a new menu system, a very robust one at that is not desirable at this point. Sony would have to make it extremely enticing to do so... Airedale1 Cream of the Crop More info | Sep 03, 2019 12:16 | #3 I was a Canon shooter for over 40 years and just recently got rid of my 7D2, 7D, Canon EF 70-200 f/4L, Canon EF 400 f/5.6L and a few other Canon "L" lenses and got the Sony RX10 M4 and I am thrilled with it. No regrets at all. Sony RX10 M4

Sep 03, 2019 13:12 | #4 I have a foot in both camps. I'm older, 66, pretty good shape but am not going to haul a FF body and 3 heavy lens on a hike, bike, or around town. When I'm in the city doing urban, street, or vacation photos I carry an RP with one zoom and 35 prime, or just the prime. If I'm on a hike or doing city at a daylight event I'll take the RX. Both have merits and limitations. If Sony made an updated (all the fancy focus and video tricks + built-in ND filter)RX?? with APSC sensor with 24-400 2.8 - 4 I would buy it. I love the ergonomics of the RX series; it is somewhat of the Swiss Army Knife of cameras.

I got the a7riii and I don't need the 61mp of the IV but I might switch to the a9. I've been extremely happy with the quality of the af tracking and eye focus. I mostly do sports and video and sony is miles ahead of canon for this. The lenses is what I was most concerned about but after trying a few I'm sold on sony. I think Nikon and Canon got behind the curve with the switch to mirrorless. Not sure about the RX series as I have never tried one but I will say my switch to sony was an easy one. I'm not sure I would give up everything for a fixed-lens camera but maybe try both for a while. Mike

We sat at a brewery for a couple hours looking at one in Crescent City. Asked the man to bring it in and share his photos and thoughts. Sounded pretty good. vadenphotography.com
