Confirmation that only the 100-400 II + 1.4 EFIII and 200-400 + 2x EFIII have 27 point AF, everything else has just single point ( same as the 80D and 6DII which also share the same 45 point AF array )

Just what am I missing in this thread?

Just dying to see what 32M-Pix can do - But:-

Is there no MICROADJUSTMENT? How do we tune our lenses in?
Why no GPS - even some cheap point and shoots have GPS? Do we have to buy a meg-buck unit to clip on?

Wouldn't it have been fairly easy to have just stuffed the new sensor and processor into the existing 7D2 body and called it a 7D3?-?

Just my simplistic thoughts on the matter.:-)

Yes there is AFMA so tuning lenses is catered for, no built in GPS but there is connectivity to the Canon Connect App which can be used for GPS logging.

Darn. Maybe my lovely 7D2 is obsolete.

If it was producing good images before the 90D was announced, it will continue to do so.

Same could be said for my old Pentax Spotmatic.

I will also miss the GPS. I guess I could just take a pic at each place with my cell phone. That would record the location. If I remember.

why would you think there is no microadjustment? these kinds of things have been in the bodies for years...you think they'll just take them out for no good reason?

i'm amazed anyone even uses the GPS on cameras...i always thought it was just useless

Just how long do we wait for info on the 7D3? If it might happen. Still, the 90D may be worth a venture into the realms of a 32M-Pix cropped sensor - if only a temporary acquisition.

It is tempting. I don't know how long my initial reluctance will hold out. The 90D would certainly be better than the 7D2 in many areas, with no step backward in high-ISO noise (could look a little better). If I heard consistently that it hunts less than the 7D2, especially at f/8, I just might get one.

Well, I just saw the supplemental info from Canon that someone linked to, and it seems that the 80D is crippling f/8 AF potential, with center-point-only for f/8.

Maybe it isn't any use in a metropolitan area but it's great when you live in the Highlands of Scotland. I use it ll the time on my 6D when out hiking - it can also be used as an altimeter. The photos are geo-tagged which Flickr recognizes.

I have the 90D on pre-order with BHP. I use my 80D for aviation, and I'm curious to see how the extra 8 MP will help with cropping small planes at a distance.

Just hope I receive the camera before an air show next month. But I have doubts.

When you see my camera gear you'll think I'm a pro.
When you see my photos you'll know that I'm not.

I usually have the GPS on when I'm shooting outdoors and wandering. While shooting, it's obvious where I am, but a few weeks later often I just can't remember where I shot that bug or bird. It often doesn't matter, but sometimes it does and I need to know where. And GPS is the answer. It is wonderful how well it works.

So I will definitely miss the GPS and will need to remember to take a shot with my phone at locations to record that info.

I find it useful as it helps document where I was when I took the image, and then document what I see.
For example, I know the image below is the Muskingum river flowing into the Ohio river. The town of Marietta is split by the Muskingum river and is across the Ohio river from Williamstown, WV. I might have figured it out eventually, if I knew the flight path. The GPS makes it much easier.
