Bowens mount around to stay like a standard light bulb socket thread?

With so many of my accessories being bowens mount, I was wondering if the mount is so etched in stone, to remain the same way many light sockets are the same.

It would be a nuisance to need an extra mount system, since some modifiers and lights can last years or decaded.

I found an article about a company starting up Bowens again after the liquidation, but other than that I know little.

I don't use Bowens but did see some announcements of new lighting at Wex (external link) here in the UK. I suspect the Bowens mount will be around for a long time.

Likely to be around for some time. It's effective, simple and out of patent.

However, it's not quite as 'standard' as it should be across all manufacturers - as detailed in this passed thread:
