Has anyone ever noticed a sensor cleaning being done when opening the card door on a 1DX? I don't think I've ever seen this before with mine until this evening. Seems to have randomly just started...

Edit: happens with the camera turned off.

I don't open that door very often, so no. But sensor cleaning is typically initiated by turning the camera on/off, and there's such a switch in the card door too, so...

Just picked up mine - was turned off, no sign of sensor cleaning when card door opened...

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

It doesn't do it every time you operate the on/off switch either.

Appreciate the reply. So you believe it's normal? It's weird, all the years of owning this camera, I've never noticed it..

Thanks for checking. Messing around with mine a little more, I've noticed it mostly seems to happen when there are no cards inserted. So, camera off, door closed, no cards... open door, sensor cleaning occurs...
