Good grief.

Now I think that is a universally understood English term!

Good grief. I agree with all of you.
.

.
I love that here on POTN there are several people who engage in impromptu discussions about grammar, word usage, and spelling. . That is something that I enjoy immensely. . Attempts to start such discussions on Facebook or Instagram go ignored and no one engages. . Here there is usually a lot of engagement when word usage or spelling is brought up. . That is one of the things I like most about this forum, and why I often prefer it to Facebook and Instagram.

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I only wish we could engage freely in such discussions without annoying members who come here only for the photography. They're correct that grammar is off topic.

EDIT: The notice that appeared when I pressed Submit said "saving your humbling mastery of grammar." May I take this as encouragement?

.Yes, they are indeed correct. . But I see no problem with going off topic.

In fact, for most threads, I enjoy them most when they stray off the original topic. . Often, in various threads, there will be a move to get things back on topic, and I wonder, ."Why? This is more interesting than the original topic was."

In Scotland, we would ask after the health and well-being of a person by asking .... how are you keeping?

And, keeping to himself, would mean being on his own. Away from the public. Being quiet.
