I have a wedding to shoot on Saturday, and forecasts now calls for RAIN! And lot's of it.

They have a beautiful home on a lake with a really nice long dock over the water... All would have been great but NOW it's calling for rain.

They said they have ordered a big white tent to keep everyone dry, but dangit!

I need some advice, encouragement, sample photos, ANYTHING!

What has been others experience on a rainy day with an "outside" wedding!?

First off, I shot a wedding in April, the forecast said early morning sun and by the time of the wedding it would be raining. Shame, as there were lovely steps for group shots. So I did what I always do, and prayed. Guess what? Glorious Sunshine for the whole day.
I have shot a wedding where the weather was atrocious. The photo in this thread was taken on the way to the ceremony as the bride lived in the church grounds, 15 metres from the building. It made an amusing photo. During the service it started raining cats and dogs. Luckily, I knew the venue well, and there was a large indoor room in the church conference centre that I was able to utilize for formals and intimates.
So my advice is to look for sheltered areas such as a veranda, building overhangs, bandstands (done that too) or indoor rooms. A brolley (umbrella) makes for a great shot, especially with rain on it, and large puddles can be utilised for reflection shots. Look around the venue, and you'll be amazed at just how much you can do. Google "Wet weather wedding photography" for more inspiration. And don't just copy, create as well. Good luck. Plan ahead and I'm sure you won't need it.

Find some indoor locations for photos. Train stations, museums, barns, even some malls. Try to use their location if you can. Google for rainy day wedding photos for inspiration.

You may want to do a big group photo inside with a couple of big strobes pointing up - ideally up and back if you can reflect off something behind you, don't point it above the group or you'll get bad shadows.

I know this is a month late, but I once struck gold with an antique store that were ecstatic to have us come over when I called - she was setting things up, proposing ideas, etc... and it turned out really well!

Also if you have any chocolate shops, I've done well with a couple of those here

First of all, keep yourself dry and comfy. For couple session, put some gumboots on, some umbrella and everything is fine. Make the best out of the situation you can't change. As well, look for a cozy place inside their house like a chimney or put them in front of a window to take benefit of edge light. Everything is fine. You are not god. Be relaxed and the couple will be too.
Have fun!
