I've been sitting on a couple piles of plywood, cut to dimension and sanded,
for probably 2 years now.

Warning: cellphone pics follow!

Well, I finally got the gumption to do something with it just a few weeks ago.
I was stalling the project due to the old, sorry-looking wardrobe cabinet,
and a couple of other pieces, which needed to go away.
I finally determined to tackle the larger wardrobe, and found it was much easier
to dismantle than expected, so the other small pieces followed immediately after.

While clearing out the old, assembly of the new began.
Limited space did not allow many of the new assemblies to be built, so further assembly
began in earnest when the old was gone so that the new could be placed in situ.

The end result is something my wife and I are both very pleased with,
particularly due to getting rid of the old and worn-out stuff, which was simply ugly
at best. Here's the final product:

Image is a 3-exposure, in-camera HDR from the new 5D Mk IV.

This helped the process along:

The construction goes along with a similar build on the opposite side of the room.
This now has another row across the top, just like the first picture shows:

It's all based on the same dimensional aspects of what I built for our TV and audio.
Whenever we may move to a different place, it can all be stacked & arranged
according to desires of different spaces. They are simply stacked boxes
of uniform height and uniform width divisions, and not assembled as one-piece units
as they may appear:

Again, this helped the process:

Perfect measuring and drawings resulted in these louspeakers, which our CNC
programmer had no trouble with. It's of the same Baltic birch plywood,
18mm thick, outdoor-rated, really excellent quality:
IMAGE: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48723781193_b0934eb75a_o.jpg
These are mirror-image pairs.

The final result is six of these; four for the main room's surround and two for when
I finally manage to gain a vintage analog receiver for the bedroom:

Crossover circuits were sourced from eBay sellers in China; they are excellent.
Not long after, I decided to spend better money for a dedicated center-channel loudspeaker.
Once again, my measurements were spot-on for our CNC programmer:

After putting this to use, we've had no desire to use the 10-inch subwoofer
from Monoprice, which was almost required before this was deployed.

All in all, it's all come out very well, and we're very pleased with it.
The loudspeakers were about US $70/pair for components; center-channel
cost nearly US $200. Plywood material for EVERYTHING was 100% FREE.
Loudspeaker drivers were sourced from Parts-express.com in the US.
A giveaway of a 5-gallon bucket of lacquer was thinned in cans for a wipe-on
sealer, used on the plywood. Louspeaker assemblies were finished with a
polyurethane thinned with naptha, simply wiped on then sanded lightly.
3 to 4 coats finished them nicely with a smooth and lovely finish.

To understand why the Bass Ale was so instrumental to the process, here's a look
at some of it before it took shape in the plywood material. It was constructed of
cheap(free) particleboard before the plywood plans took shape:

IMAGE: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48724281136_58038b83df_o.jpg

Yes, this played a part in the process:

The final result is a loudspeaker which is rated around 100Hz to 40Khz, which is rather important
to me and my hearing capabilities:

And the desk base was rebuilt with the same free plywood of exceptional quality
after acquiring a free 3x6-foot solid walnut slab for the top:

Interesting. And impressive. I used to make speakers in the 80s. It seems to have come a long way now. I used to wind my own coils and design my own crossovers. Much simpler to order them. Haha. Really really good work, Craig. It's beautiful. I'd be proud.

I'm not familiar with Treble Ale, but I do like Bass as the paler, lighter half of a black & tan mixture, with Guinness, of course, filling the role of the darker, heavier brew.

Is Treble Ale the "black" part of a black and tan, with Bass being the "tan" part?

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Oh, dear.

Tom, "bass" pronounced differently is a whole 'nother word.

The OP built a system that included bass and treble speakers.

I've been getting ready for a shoot, chuckling to myself and biting my tongue over this. Cute. And funny.

Thank you. I know nothing about beers and ales and very little about sound equipment, but you've probably read enough of my posts to notice that language gets my attention and I'm apt to indulge in wordplay.

Now all the members who asked themselves "Treble ale? What the hell is she talking about?" the first time can relax and stay quietly in the woodwork.

I totally missed the play on words and thought that OhLook had a remarkably deep knowledge of the products of some of the UK craft breweries.

I had already been thinking about this (really cool by the way) project as Goldilocks + 1

I guess including the word "balance" as a clue was too subtle.

I had already been thinking about this (really cool by the way) project as Goldilocks + 1

This time I'm the one who's missing something. Are we still on the subject of bottles of ale? There's a famous story that may be relevant: "Goldilocks and the Three Beers."
