Start with an image hosting service (Flickr, SmugMug, IMGR, 500px, etc) so that you can easily post images within the constraints of the forum(s). Your current attachments are too large to show and are full 3+Mb images that are not showing off their resolution on a small viewing device.

But, looking at your two images, they are interesting, colorful, high contrast photos that are pleasing to the eye. Can't really comment on what you need to work on without seeing more work and what your intentions are.

Welcome to POTN :)

Very best,

Hello!

This is what you need to work on:

It is a problem that you aren't presenting images here in a way that we can readily see them.

It doesn't have to be that complicated.

All you need to do is to downsize the images so that they can work with the forum's software. . I actually like it when people post images as attachments, instead of embedded files, because an attached image will be here forever (or until Pekka retires the forum), whereas embedded images will only be here as long as your account at the hosting site remains active. . There is nothing more frustrating than reading through threads here that are 10 or 12 years old that have a lot of missing images. . If all of those people in the past had added the images as attachments, instead of embedding them, we would still have all of those photos to look at in the archives of old threads.

Yeah, just downsize to a reasonable jpg and things will work fine as is.

First: oversharpened and over saturated. Boring subject and boring framing.

Second: I like it, but feel like most of the work was done by the person who created the piece. That said, the photo is way more dynamic than the first, the framing is nice and unlike the first it makes the viewer think a little.

I would work on choosing a subject and framing. No amount of post processing will make something like the first shot work.

Those images look good.

PS. Interesting that you were able to get uploads so big that they get over 2.5MB (should never happen, really), I'll have to check it out. Perhaps the images have an enormous EXIF block embedded. Were they uploaded straight from mobile?

EDIT: yes there is extra data (very large XMP block) in EXIF which makes the file much larger. Maybe all the images for Google Pixel HDR are stored there. Can't help with that at this time.
Please save images you want to post in photoshop using "Save for Web" and then upload.

Yes, uploading from your computer is great! . Perfect!

But you will need to downsize the images on your computer before you upload them to this site.

What software program are you using for you photos? . If you could tell us that, then someone should be able to walk you through, step-by-step, how to resize your photos.

Tom, Pekka found a weird annomoly that seems to be tied to the phone used to take the shots. Even when I downloaded the file the weird XMP data (not related to the actual photo) was still there. In other words, it isn't the pixel size or compression.

I briefly looked for a possible explanation but didn't find anything definitive. As Pekka said it might be that the other images needed to create a HDR image are stored with the image. I also found something that suggested the "Live Photo" images might be included.

Either way if the file is opened in Photoshop and save for web is used, it should strip any extraneous data. If Photoshop is not available, I suspect other image editors would do the same with an "Export as jpg" or similar "Save as ..." action.

Yes; good points.

And if all else fails there is always the easy solution:

After editing the image to one's taste, simply do a screen capture of the edited image and save it to your desktop, then upload that to the site. . Any "weirdness" inherent in the file's origins will be completely gone as it will be nothing more than a jpeg screen capture.

I really do like the flowers image. Great contrast, texture and color. I would be happy with it.

The lights has an awful lot going on. Too much for me. Colors and all look great. But the partial person, it all just feels very accidental. Not sure what the subject is or isn't. Maybe I just need to let it settle in more.
