First, is "poster" the correct name? What I do is shoot a portrait, or a macro shot of a common item with a lot of white space in which I can add text. Then I'll add a poem or an anti-suicide message, etc.

Second, can you suggest any sources where I can find a plethora of examples of such photography? I want examples to learn from.

Third, can you suggest any great resources (e.g. textbooks) that would improve my ability to do this? I'm asking broadly: it can relate to photography techniques for this, to rhetoric, or etc.

... That's really cool. That makes it possible to use landscapes, etc. without butchering them. Nice!

Hmm if you want basic objects say like a rose with reflection, look up some product photography tutorials. Usually a white/black backdrop (roll of paper) and perspex (for the reflection) and some lights or a flash is a good starting point.

https://petapixel.com …hotographers-best-friend/ (external link) the first couple of examples use black/white under perspex.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eb3sSJTF5Og (external link) might not be the best example but it shows you can do it cheap, of course you'd replace the shoe with something more emotive.

A lot of product photography needs the clean space around the object (usually white) for their text so it's a good technique to apply to your situation, there are endless tutorials out there.
