ON1 Photo Raw 2020

Launch webinar today at 10AM Pacific. It should also be broadcast on their Youtube channel. Beta should be out today with public release sometime in October.

Well have to say not that impressed, when ver2019 was on the horizon it was flaunted with an upgrade in speed and now instead of giving 2019 owners a free upgrade in the speed they want you to buy the 2020 to get it.
Afraid On1 have become a money grab company and before anyone comes with the they have to make money or Adobe charge for new versions have a look at what Skylum did for the last upgrade? FREE of charge, Topaz? buy there product/s and updates FREE for life. In all the years I have been with On1 never once can I remember giving something back to there customers please say if I am wrong but the 2019 version was full of bugs that needed so many updates to try and fix and did thay succeed? no not really overall. Waiting now to see what Skylum are going to offer up. Russ.

ON1 today released the public beta of Photo Raw 2020. Several new or improved items I like:
- faster performance
- focus mask
- sun flare and star burst filter
- custom camera profiles
- print module

Official release will be in October. They are building a video editor and a version of Photo Raw for IOS and Android for Q1 2021.

I would be excited if they just upgraded/updated current ON1 RAW users and didn't have to buy a new version.

I'd bought the 2019 version and found that it had some good and so-so aspects as many programs do. For the price/experiment it was passable yet using it remains a so-so overall experience. I see that they have refined some of the modules but IDK. Watermarking, the print module speed along with some other areas I'll see in the demo DL.

Edit: watched the preview of the new features. Didn't strike me as a "have to get it."

The automated focus stacking has yet to yield results that are usable with even 2 frames being merged. Did a quick one in layers and the results much better over the automated attempt. This is 2 frames.

The beta seems to be faster loading images as you scroll, which is nice. I enjoyed playing with the Weather filter, but doubt I'd use it much. Did a HDR merge with 3 shots and it did a poor job aligning the images. Basically unusable result it was so blurry. It had previously merged just fine in Lightroom.

So those are the things I noticed.

File a trouble ticket with their support group for the poor HDR handling. Attach a copy of the poor resulting image.
