Very nice captures! How did you get so close? That's one of the most underrated lens.

Thanks sogs.
This was a very joyful experience. I was shooting macros on the ground and when I looked up, two young coyotes were about 10 yard away, looking for food. I guess they were mainly after grasshoppers, since there were many of them around. The coyotes were around me for 10 minutes and one came as close as 5 yard, I even had to zoom out to get the whole coyote in frame. I had enough time to change gear and get many photos of them. Unfortunately they were most of the time hidden from the high grass and shrubs.
And yes, I'm very happy with this lens. I have it always with me on hikes, it's not heavy and the picture quality is very good. I just have to let the animals come a bit closer. :)

The red spot are the under wings of a grasshopper.

That's a once in a lifetime experience. I had that lens a few years ago and upgraded and when I go back and look at some of the pictures I took, they were quite good.

Wonderful photos. Many years ago, driving a school bus in W. Oklahoma I would see Coyotes very often on the morning route. In E. OK you see one every once in awhile. There are just as many there, but the forests make them a lot harder to see. I've got two photos of one taken from a tree stand while deer hunting, but they are nowhere near good enough to post here. Just a "Look, I saw a Coyote" photo.

Thanks Terry! You never know, one day you might be as lucky as I was, and you're on the right place the right time.

Some well-captured pups there! Very nice; some great behavior shots with them stalking bugs rather than anything larger 8)
