How would you rate the Sony RX 10 IV when it comes to macro photography?

Thx.

'Macro' includes a wide range of subjects which can be shot using a wide range of methods.

At the Tele end the lens can attain about 1:2 magnification, or half life size. As the sensor is about 13mm wide that means a 26mm subject would fill the frame.
As you got to the wide end, or zoom out, the maximum magnification reduces a lot meaning you cannot get anywhere near what would be considered macro.

It would be quite good for larger bugs in natural light, eg Dragonflies, but overall a fairly limited range of usefulness as a macro camera.
You could use a Diopter such as a Raynox which attaches to the front of the lens but you can use those on any camera, or extension tubes.

If macro is your main consideration i'd look elsewhere but as stated with a Raynox close up lens added it would be functional.

I have done some macro with the RX10 using a Canon D500 closeup lens. I also fashioned a diffuser for it to go with a Godox camera-mounted flash. It all works great but doesn't really get you that close. I think with the RX10, using natural light would be better for closeup work.

Here are a couple of examples. The dragonfly was natural light, the bumblebee was with diffused flash.
