For the heck of it, or maybe more than a heck, I bought a 5D Mk ii for a 4th body to stash in my bag. The inspiration was my landscape work. where a few years ago, I had a extremely rare situation of 3 pieces of equipment like skid steers bread down 3 days in a row.

I used to have two 5D mk ii bodies a few years ago, but sure forget what the menu was like. All I can say, is when I opened the menu options tonight, I exclaimed wow ... wow .. wow ... to myself. i completely forgot how simple the menu is compared to the more recent bodies I'm using. No complaints. But I totally forgot.

Anyway, for $425 in impeccable conditions with 30,000 clicks, it seemed like a great 4th body spare to toss in my spares bag. Got it from Ebay, and partly chose it due to the quality of the photos the seller took.

Should have picked up a 5DC. :):) Even simpler and way smaller. :)

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

I looked at a few ads for those too. I was familiar already with the 5D mk ii and it uses the same battery as my 5DS and EOS R. Sometimes I get annoyed that my M5 uses the LP 17 instead.

I could never go back to the 5d or 5d2. Their management of shadow noise was terrible compared to what we have now. AF was dismal too unless you used expanded center point. For what I shoot and with what I shoot now, I don't miss either of those models.

If my EOS R and 5DS broke, I'd gladly pick up a 5D mk ii for something like a presidential portrait .. say, how Pres. Obama's 1st presidential portrait was taken with that body. I also won a couple photography contests from photos out of my 5D mk ii bodies in the past.

So for a low dollar 4th spare in a pinch, great old body.
