A lil session a few months ago with a local youth bowler.

Interesting, my youngest, now a senior in high school, just picked up bowling with his buddies, made me wonder how one would shoot the sport. Never have. Got to give it some more thought now.

This was a "staged" session. You typically can't "shoot" while folks are actually bowling. I'm fortunate to be real tight with the owner and management at the local center, so just about whenever I need to use a couple of lanes, it's not an issue. I know when "peak" times are, and always schedule around that.

Reflection in the lane is awesome! We started in a bowling league this year......fun to get out once a week for some drinking, I mean bowling!

LOL, right?!? I "drink and roll" twice a week, you can't call what I do bowling!! lolol. Been rolling league ball for 13yrs, this time.

Bowling is a real challenge to shoot. Low light levels, mix of fluorescent and incandescent lights and difficult access.

Shooting during actual play is def a crap shoot! The shots I do are all staged with lighting. I do about a dozen Gymnastics competitions per year that present the same obstacles that you've mentioned. The big difference being that the subject is moving, often very quickly, and we still have to land the shot!! lol.
