So, I just read up on the new iPhone, and I began wondering is it really better than a good quality P/S for the price? For between $599, and $1090 depending on if you have a trade in, you can get a camera that has smallish sensors, but is packed with computation aides to make remarkable images.... with smallish sensors. Or you could spend between those numbers and get a 20 - 24 mpx camera - much better sensor - but almost no computational capabilities. Why can't I get from a camera company a 24 mpx camera, with computation capabilities, for $599. I don't want to shoot images with my phone for my leisure shooting. But the new iPhone is really presenting an almost more pleasing shooting experience, with image editing built right into the device. If apple can afford to put a decent OLED screen on their "phone".... why can't my camera have a screen that is as good? Regardless of type? Why isn't the back of my Sony A7rIII a full width screen with touch controls?
For years, Apple has prepared by using other peoples ideas, and improving on them. The apple 11 does better night vision than the pixel now... who popularized it. It's what they do.
Sony this round added a lot of connectivity functions... to the A9 II. Very important to sport shooters who much have to transmit. But only supports 10 connections. Why? They can't put a directory in there that supports unlimited connections?
Its time for camera makers to steal what Apple, Google, Samsung, have all done. I don't want to buy a phone as my walk around camera... I just don't. Call me old school. But right now, with trade in, I can get an 11 Pro for $599... and it will likely be a better camera that what I can get from traditional camera manufactures. It's nuts. Why doesn't camera companies have trade in/up programs?
The user experience on my Canons and Sonys sucks... please...... steal some technology from the phone peets.
