Nine entries - wow! . This participation was great! . Thanks to all who submitted an image.

Well, I had said that this was to be about "the interplay between positive and negative space", and Levina's image is most definitely all about that interaction, so she gets the 'win'. . I must admit that I have trouble understanding the image if I try to view it literally ..... but perhaps it isn't meant to be taken literally, or tangibly, and if I let go of the literal and embrace the surreal, then it is quite intriguing.

Allen, InPhoto, and just whistle are runners up!

In Photo's image is a classic use of negative space, achieved by shooting from a POV that not only caused the near shelves to be large in the frame, but also effectively blurred them out. . Quite excellent work!

In Allen's image, it's really beautiful how the light and shadows bring out the texture and form of the woman's dress, calves, heels, and shoes. . And the overall image - like so many of yours, it has my eyes roaming all around the frame, finding some interesting detail anywhere I look!

In just whistle's image, I enjoy the tonal gradations that occur where the petals of the flower overlap one another by varying degrees. . And I love how "clean" the image is, being free of any blemishes or distractions. . I can appreciate how difficult it may have been to find a flower with no defects or damage or irregularities in any of the petals (or the tedious editing that may have been employed to remove any such unsightlinesses).

Old Crow - your photo makes me want to go to Sedona, Arizona! . It looks like some beautiful country to roam around in. . I bet one could find some lizards or rattlesnakes to photograph there.

Mark - I love how you got the sun when it was so low in the sky that it appears elliptical instead of spherical. . How cool is that?! . I also like that you used the term "copse" in your title. . I think that is a useful word that is not used often enough.

texkam - The foreground rock and earth being in such deep shadow not only reduces it to "negative space", but also creates a foreboding mood. . Looks like some interesting micro-topography to explore!

madjack - What a beautiful cloud formation! . I like the way that the sunlight is falling on those clouds. . It was especially fortuitous that the light was brightest on the bit of could that had the most interesting shape ...... that's probably why this caught your eye in the first place!

dilorenzo - what a classic daylight moon image! . I think the moon looks best when it is surrounded by blue sky, not by black darkness. . And I like that the moon isn't full, because this means that instead of being front lit, it is slightly side lit, which brings out the texture and details better. . The bit of cloud across the bottom of the frame is a nice compositional bonus!

Thanks, all, for participating - it was a fun challenge!

Levina - you're up! . Looking forward to seeing what you have for us :-)

Tom, thank you so much for commenting on each photo! Well done, and a wonderful challenge.:-)

Just a note about the quoted comment, I think you meant to address Mark. His is the Copse photo.

Congrats to Levina, that is amazing!
